Disclaimer. Before you read any further I have to say. I’m not your typical DIYer. But hey, we’ve all gotta start somewhere…and this is my start! Joel and I built our home about 4 years ago. Since this was our first home, we saved in some places and splurged in some places. We saved on the bedroom floors and installed carpet over hard wood. 4 years later we are saying syanarra to the carpet and installing wood.
To get this project started, I headed to Surplus Warehouse in Jacksonville, FL. The showroom offered tons of options and free samples to bring home. The manager Rick really helped guide me through the entire process. He gave quotes so I knew exactly what I would be paying, helped me eliminate options based on labor and involvement. Because the products were in stock on site, I was able to take home what I needed so I could match accordingly. Since we had wood throughout the main living spaces, I wanted to find something similar to install in the bedrooms. I picked my samples and went home to match.
As you can see I had lots of options to choose from. I ended up settling with one that matched perfectly with our current wood floors. It even had a similar texture. Now we will begin to start the fun! Between the dog, company, a husband, and a child this carpet has gotta go. I can’t wait to take you along on my first DIY project. Stay tuned for the awaited AFTER! But for now take a peak below at the before pictures!
