Happy Hump Day!
My week feels so thrown off because I skipped out on Monday…but hey I’m not complaining!
Joel and I just celebrated our 6 year anniversary! Woop woop! Words cannot describe how in love I am…it just keeps getting better! You can keep reading because thats as mushy as I’ll get. Marriage is a full time job with no sick days, PTO, or holidays, we like to go BIG on our anniversary because each year is an accomplishment. However this year, life is a little crazy. Our entire life, schedule, and all of our energy has been devoted to launching our church , 1900. And while we are loving every minute of it, we felt it wasn’t possible for us to travel due to our crazy schedules. And like an answered prayer, thats when we discovered One Ocean.
For those of you who don’t know, One Ocean is a resort in Atlantic Beach, FL. And let me tell ya…if gives you all the feels! This resort specializes in meeting your needs before you even know you needed them. I don’t know how they do it, but they do. From the minute we arrived everything was a breeze. The room was gorgeous…side note, all rooms have an ocean view and each come with your own personal Docent. Say what? I didn’t understand what that was until our doorbell rang. Yes, you have a cool doorbell! Our Docent came in, introduced herself, and showed us the magic of our room. We had a mini fridge stocked with our favorite beverages, AND a snack drawer!! Did I mention this is included? It’s included. A “one touch system” with access to our docent at any time to make dinner reservations, set up our beach chairs, book a massage, and/or anything else you could possibly need.
We started our stay with lunch. Another amazing thing about this resort is the location! It is perfectly centered in the heart of Atlantic Beach. We were within walking distance to so many amazing restaurants and shops. After some guac and tacos, we headed to the beach. The ocean is my happy place! I actually grew up about 10 minutes from the resort, so I was feeling right at home. Our afternoon was spent getting a tan, building sandcastles, and playing in the ocean.
Dinner was next on the list at the incredible Azurea Restaurant. This place was unbelievable. Think ocean views, cozy booth, romantic lighting, oh and amazing food! Joel and I got to experience the new menu and let me tell you, we both can’t stop talking about how good it was! We were feeling a little adventurous, so we let the chef surprise us with his favorite things from the summer menu. We started with the Heirloom Tomato Salad…I don’t even like tomatoes, but I gobbled this up! Next we tried this shrimp dish…I don’t remember what all it had but sooo good. The bread basket was something out of a dream. Around five different types of fresh baked bread with a spread of butter, oil, hummus, and cheese for dipping; I really had to watch myself here. Then the award winning crab cake came out. Words can’t even describe it, hands down was the best crab cake of our lives. As our main course, we had the blue cheese crusted filet. Outstanding just like the rest. Btw I’m getting really hungry writing this, like you may find me chowing down at One Ocean tonight! Last but not least, dessert! Azurea was so generous and brought not one but THREE desserts for us to try. My favorite was the Lemon Lavender Meringue Tart. YUM! We also tried the Creme Brûlée and the Matcha Raspberry Entremet. And to top it off, we were sent back to our room with a box of handmade truffles. I think I left 10lbs heavier!
