Say Yes to Marble!

When Joel and I were building our home, there were a few things we knew we had to have, no matter the cost (HA that was a joke…a big joke at least for him). Anyways one of my must haves was marble counter tops in the kitchen. It was an upgrade but the price wasn’t jaw dropping. When I told my builder I wanted marble he immediately tried talking me out of it. He said that it would stain and I better not cook with red sauce unless I wanted to see it on my counter for the rest of my life. I ignored him and went to the showroom anyway.

Once at the showroom the same thing happened. This guy didn’t even show me marble…he took me to see white granite (which is beautiful, just not the desire of my heart). He had the same argument but I held my ground. My thought process, if I spill spaghetti I’m gonna clean it up. It won’t stain in an instant.

So here I am today with my marble. It’s been a year since we moved in and I am still in love. You do have to care for it but it’s easy…remembering to water my plants is more of a challenge. A few rules to caring for these counters:

  1. Clean with a mild soap and water. I occasionally use Pledge Multi Surface Spray.
  2. No hot dishes. Use an oven mitt or a silicone pad.
  3. If you spill something, clean it up. It’s not the end of the world if you get a stain. I recommend hiring a specialist come out every few years to buff out anything.
  4. Love your marble. Don’t panic if something happens to it. It’s just stuff 🙂

Above are items featured in my kitchen…and a few things I will be adding! (like those super cute white and gold bar stools!!!). Shout out to my super sweet friends at ftd flowers for making my home vibrant and fresh! Click to shop and comment below with any thoughts or questions!
